Rangers Win 1st Title

Nathan Eovaldi pitched six gutsy innings, Mitch Garver broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the seventh and the Texas Rangers are World Series champions for the first time in their 63-year franchise history after beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game 5 on Wednesday night.

Marcus Semien homered late and the Rangers, held hitless for six innings by Zac Gallen, finished a record 11-0 on the road this postseason by capping the Fall Classic with three straight wins in the desert.

Just one Game after Texas took a 10-run lead by the third in a Game 4 slow paced game, the Rangers finished out the Series by edging out the Diamondbacks in a all out pitchers’ with a score of 0-0 through eight innings, piling on the final four runs in the ninth!

Now, after five stadiums, roughly two dozen managers and 10,033 games, the Rangers are champions.

“Really this was truly special, we appreciate all of your support,” Seager, the two-time World Series MVP, said during the ceremony following a two-hour parade along a 2-mile route near the team’s ballpark.

Texas beat the Astros in the AL Championship Series, with the Rangers winning all four ALCS games played in Houston, including the Game 7 clincher.
